I thought it would be fun to share this fun, fall interactive book. You can use it to target positional concepts and 1-2 step directions. Or, expand the activity by using the pictures to work on answering wh-questions (who, what doing, what, where), formulating sentences, describing objects, comparing and contrasting, and core vocabulary.
Assembly Directions:
- Cut along the dashed lines for pages 2-9.
- Cut out the pictures/squares. Laminate and bind the book.
- Place 2-3 Velcro dots on each page.
- For each Velcro dot, dot with a marker so students can see the Velcro choices.
To complete your therapy session, add in a fun fall leaf craft: http://litalitateacher.com/2014/11/bye-bye-fa.html for the fine motor piece and a cute song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKjUPqbt8DU!
Make sure to have your students act out the actions in the song with their hands to incorporate bilateral movements and following directions (raising arms up, falling down, rolling, and raking).
Add in handwriting/writing and sentence formulation by having your students describe what the leaf person is doing! You can expand their writing by having students make up pretend stories or describe the leaf. Have fun with it!!!
